New and Returning Students

Class Requirements for New Students.
W’s Concealed Handgun Licensing & Training
offers in-depth training for CHL procedures. New Students must to follow these steps to start the licensing process:

In order to take the CHL course with W’s Concealed Handgun Licensing & Training, you do not need to register with the state of Texas first. You may register with the state of Texas at a later date if you wish.

W's does not offer Pictures or Prints. All students must register with the TXDPS to receive their individualized training requirements.
Program Update (July, 2010) ­ Photo requirements/Signatures
TXDPS no longer requires signatures on the back of photos by either the applicant or the fingerprint technician. Photos will not be rejected for lack of signature.
Program Update (July, 2010) ­ Photo Requirements for Military Personnel; ages 18-20
Profile photos are no longer required. Military Personnel who are 18-20 years of age can now submit 2 photos of a clear frontal image.
Program Update (April, 2010) - Fingerprints & Photos Requirement Change for Renewal Applicants
As of May 1, 2010, CHL renewal applicants will no longer be required to submit fingerprints or photos as part of their renewal application. CHL can now resubmit good quality fingerprints and reuse previously submitted photos.
*note: TXDPS reserves the right to request replacement passport photos or quality fingerprints for renewing applicants, in the event that the previously submitted photos or fingerprints on file do not meet current quality requirements and/or guidelines.

ImportantVert Important - Class Requirements for Returning Students.
The concealed handgun renewal class consists of four and a half hours of classroom instruction as well as firearm proficiency testing. All necessary updates on pertinent information will be covered and tested. You have the option of taking the renewal course as many as six months before your CHL license expires.

ImportantVery Important. All concealed handgun renewal students must provide their own box of 50 factory loaded rounds.

ImportantVery Important. Having a well-lubricated and clean firearm is extremely important for training. If your firearm does not meet these specifications you will be removed from the firing range. Most firearm malfunctions are caused by lack of lubrication.

ImportantVery Important. Also, ensure that you are proficient with your weapon. If you have not fired your pistol in a while, it is advisable to go out and practice before training. You will be required to fire 20 rounds at 3 yards, 20 rounds at 7 yards and 10 rounds at 15 yards during training. This a test not shooting instructional class.
